Third Austrian National Park Research Award for Diploma and Doctoral Students

Twice already young scientists who with their diploma theses had made valuable contributions to the management of National Parks were awarded prizes by Federal Minister Pröll. Because of the great success the initiative will be launched again in 2007, this time including also doctoral theses.

The Research Award was first offered in 2003; prizes were awarded in late 2004. In 2005 it was offered again; prizes were presented at the end of 2006. Due to the great popularity the award is now offered a third time.

Totally 25 prizes for the most interesting and the most innovative diploma and – for the first time this year - doctoral theses will be presented. Dotation: € 1,000 for diploma theses; € 1,500 for doctoral theses.

The diploma/doctoral thesis must have been approbated between November 2006 and October 2008 and has to deal with topics of relevance to National Parks. 

Approved diploma/doctoral theses are to be sent to the Ministry of Life (in paper form) and to the administrative body of the respective National Park (in paper and in digital form) together with an application form by 31 October 2008, at the latest.
